There are three types of links that are offered by Web Directories. When you are submitting your web site to a Web Directory it’s a good idea to know what type of link that particular Web Directory offers because some web site owners might not want to pay for links, or might not want to add a reciprocal link to their web site to publicize the directory. Here are the three different types of links that Web Directories offer:
1. Free – Free links are the most popular types of links. Businesses love free links, of course. Anytime that you can publicize your business for free you’re getting a good deal. Some business experts think that free links are less valuable than the other types of links but there is no evidence that a free link is any less effective than any of the other types of links.
2. Reciprocal – Web Directories that require reciprocal links will usually check your web site to make sure that you have added a link to the Web Directory before the link to your site in the directory will go live. Reciprocal links are very common on the web, but not all that common in Web Directories.
3. Paid - Paid Link Directories might charge a flat price just to be included, or they might have a bid for position fee structure. If they operate with a bid for position structure than the position of your link within an appropriate category will depend on how much you have bid and how many other businesses want to get listed in that category. If your business is in a category that doesn’t have too much competition you can get a very good position for your link for fairly cheap. But if your business is in a popular category you might have to pay a lot of money just to get an ok position for your link.
